Hoping for Hospital Discharge

Hoping for discharge from Chieti hospital!

Yesterday was a rough day – started off with my phone not working – dead! Totally stressed as my phone is my life line. Peter being discharged and wouldn’t be able to reach me and would be worried. Needed it to direct me by bike to airport to pick up the rental and the voucher for the car was in the files on my phone. Off I went at 7 in the morning to the front desk and managed to communicate what I needed. Used their computer to find a local repair shop, couldn’t get into my email as couldn’t remember password and printed off directions to airport. So off I went on my bike to find the airport – knew the general direction – praying it wasn’t a busy highway lol. Miraculously I found the airport. Small enough that it was easy to find the car rental in the airport terminal. I’m quite the sight in biking gear walking in with my bike. Nice young man allowed me to get the car without the voucher and gave me an upgrade. Was also scared he was going to ask me for international drivers license which I don’t have. He didn’t. Off to get the car! Popped off the wheel – I’ve had to become my own bike mechanic without Peter lol. The car is a hybrid and trying to figure out how to work the gps and move the car in drive and revers lol. Went forward and then had to reverse – as I was figuring it out of course a car came up. Bit of a panic and finally figured it out. Small things seem to set me off. Somehow managed to get to the repair shop without google maps. Unfortunately they couldn’t fix right away. Back to hotel to check out – loaded the bikes and small amount of luggage and headed to the mall. Managed to find a shop like staples that does service. Guy was able to fix it – it needed a software update. Almost cried with relief. Off to hospital. Nightmare parking – cars double parked and I’m having to navigate around a tiny round about with a big car hoping not to hit anything. Finally found a spot on the road. Feeling relived that Peter was getting out but wondering if it would happen as there are so many logistics with discharge including insurance. Finally we were able to speak to the Doctor about all of his injuries. He was excellent – professional, patient and answered your questions. We must of been his case study. It’s a teaching hospital and around the table were I’m sure clerks and residents. Seeing the ct scan of his left lung and rib fractures really brings it home how serious. But he is recovering. In the late afternoon we finally booked a place to stay for the weekend. Of course an hour later found out Peter wouldn’t be discharged. I wasn’t surprised but sad. Really didn’t want to go to a new place by myself. But I ended up finding a nice spot with nice people. No English but you somehow are able to communicate. There are good people in this world. So this morning I’m feeling better and ready to face any challenges. Will miss riding the bike this am but don’t have the energy to take it out of the car and to find a route. We will stay in one place for 2 nights and then will stay in one spot for a week in Vasto. Close to the sea and in a nice town. Back on June 10 for a follow up. Peter is improving but will be good for him to get out. Little nervous how he will make out sleeping. Going to go to a medical shop to see if we can a get some special pillows.
