Stage 10 – San Terenzo to Pisa

98 km

725 meters

5:04

Again we were late leaving – nice to enjoy the sun and the beach.

Of course when your at sea level you need to climb to get out of there. Once it got to over 20 percent gradient with no end in sight I got off the bike. Peter didn’t until forced. Hard on a narrow road with bike packing gear. Was a short walk up and then back on the bike.

Three climbs for the day with the last climb of the day of 3.9 km with 6.5 percent average gradient. Was scared just thinking about it but I did it! Getting stronger – no longer only in last gear.

Festival of Medici that we passed and had lunch in the town where the festival was happening. We had our go to focaccia with cheese and tomato and lemon soda

It was busy along tourist towns along the coast. It was Sunday so extra busy. I don’t like those towns.

Busy road heading into Pisa.

Staying in the old stables of the Medici family. It’s in a national park. Very peaceful setting with the birds chirping.

Walked to the nearest restaurant- delicious- been in a family since 1925.

Was very tired after the ride but feeling rested after a good nights sleep and ready to tackle the ride to Florence.

Ride out of San Terenzo
And it continues
Almost there
You can see the beach where we came from
The leaning tower of Pisa
Walk back from the restaurant in the dark. Our hotel is lit up
Our hotel – Casal La Sterpaia
