Stage 6 – Ferrara to Bologna

We had a leisurely Italian breakfast in a beautiful setting but not the best breakfast! A typical Italian breakfast of coffee, cakes and croissants. Miss the German/Austrian influenced breakfast!

Ferrara is a beautiful city. First time here and recommend!

I always find it slow going into and out of large towns. So many turns, lots of traffic and trying to stay alert but having to look at the gps on your bike! Have to be diligent in watching out for cars and pedestrians. For the most part cars, trucks and pedestrians have been very respectful to cyclists!

Around 40 km my legs started to cramp and a much needed rest stop at 44 km for a well deserved lemon soda and tomato and mozzarella cheese focaccia sandwich. My go to food while on a bike to give me energy.

It’s definitely starting to get hotter the farther south we go! We arrived early at our destination for the next two nights at padero San Giuliano

Tomorrow is a much needed rest day and we’ll head into bologna to explore! I still can’t believe that I’ve completed the amount of mileage and elevation so far! The strength training over the past year definitely has paid off!

Sadly the agritoursmo we are staying tonight won’t be serving dinner as their in on break. I was really looking forward to a farm to table meal.

Beautiful Ferrara
